Foggy and crusty headlights
If your car or truck is more than 4 years old, you most likely have some level of
deterioration on your outer surface of your headlight lenses.
This foggy and crusty damage on your lens is caused by the suns UV rays and
the environment.
The manufactures UV layer brakes down and becomes dry and brittle giving your
lens that foggy and crusty appearance.
Not only does it look bad, it is also very dangerous. The crusty layer prevents the light from
passing through the lens properly impairing your night vision up to 90 %.
I have restored lights that were so bad the customer stated turning the lights
on at night made very little difference.
My headlights have moisture inside can you fix them?
No, if there is anything inside your light such as moisture the sealed beam has been
compromised. If you have moisture inside, and a crusty foggy lens outside, restoring
the lens will still improve clarity and night driving with out having to replace
them.
Why restore why not replace?
Since the mid 90's auto makers began using a headlight assembly called
( sealed beams. ) What this means is everything is in one piece. The adjustment
screws, wiring harness, and the mounting brackets are all sealed in with a large plastic
housing behind the headlight under the hood.
Because it is a sealed unit the outer plastic lens cannot be removed. The whole assembly
has to be replaced.
The cost to replace a set of headlights can run between 500.00 to 1800.00 a set
depending on the car you drive.
The cost of a restoration will run between 99.95 to 199.95 depending on the car you drive,
level of damage, and restoration needed.
Most restorations cost 99.95 to 149.95
